What souvenir items to buy from Korea

What souvenir items to buy from Korea

Souvenir ideas, returning gifts, omiyage or pasalubong for whatever you call it, you need to buy some for yourself or for your loved ones and friends.  Below are some of the  best food pasalubong choices or best things to buy that you can look forward to on your trip to Seoul, South Korea.

Snacks
Look for these flavored almonds which are good for snacks.  Find them in Lotte Mart (~5500krw = 220php, 2016), Seoul Station. Or better yet, in underground walkway in Hongik Station (towards Exit 9, ~7000krw = 280php).  This would roughly cost more than 400php in Korean Marts in Manila.  Famous is the honey butter flavored, but you can also try the wasabi and yogurt.

Tea

What is Puer Tea?  Puer Tea is considered to open the meridians, 'warm the middle burner' (the spleen and stomach) and be beneficial to 'blood cleansing' and digestion. For these reasons, it is often consumed after heavy meals or drunk as a hangover cure / preventative. [Reference]

Green Tea Latte Matcha Latte Powder

Coffee
Maxims - affordable 3 in 1 coffee found in convenience stores like 7/11, CU, GS25, etc.You can enjoy variety of flavors from original, mocha gold, caramel macchiato, cappuccino vanilla, mocha latte, etc.

Skin care and Cosmetics

From hair treatments, make-up, skincare to nail polish - you can find them anywhere in Seoul.  To name a few would be Etude, Nature Republic, Tony Moly, Laneige, Innisfree, among others.  You can find them the  most in Myeongdong, followed by Hongdae and Ehwa.  But, actually you can find them anywhere else like subway underground markets, even near wet or traditional markets, alleys or nearby University areas.

You still get to see some in airport, but has less choices or options.

Postcards

This time, I bought postcards from Seoul Sky Tower, wrote notes while in Blute, drew the autumn trees while in Hongdae and sent them out from the post office at Inha University, Incheon.

I got free postcard from Konkuk University and bought one from a store in front of Choong Ang High School.

Chocolates, Biscuits and Pastries
More flavors to choose from when it comes to Pepero biscuits.  Look for those Lotte cookies or buy some choco pie.  Check also Market-O products and some Pororo candies for kids.

If you don't want to carry goods from Seoul or if you miss the goodies while you're back in the Philippines, the following are actually available in the metro. Taken from Korean Mart in BGC (near Burgos Circle), Market Place and 3F Market Market.

You get to taste and enjoy drinks from local beers to Paldo Sikhye Rice Punch Drink, cereal grain soybean milk, black soybean milk, etc.

Traditional Korean gifts ideas
From magnets, to hanbok cards, to wooden face masks - you can find them the most in Insadong.

A place where you can find lots of arts and crafts, book marks, wall decors, ceramics and figurines, antiques.

Socks
With good cotton clothes, and some were related to K-pop.

Where to buy Running Man shirts
Go to Arirang Souvenir Shop, 6F Doota Mall, Dongdaemun.  You can buy Running Man shirts for more than 10000krw.  You can also buy separate name tags for another 10000krw.
