Japan: Sapporo: 5 days Itinerary



SappoRoute (Taste the Sights of Sapporo) 

The following sample itinerary is just a sample or basic plan for those who would like to go to Sapporo, Hokkaido.  This is basically a draft of what was submitted to JNTO contest and I have no personal experience yet on the mentioned places and restaurants below. 

Day 1: Taste of Chocoloate, Tea and Ramen

  • AM: Shiroi Koibito Park (Sapporo Chocolate Factory Tour).  Where kids and adults can enjoy: painting Hokkaido shaped Cookie, riding Steam Locomotive Shiroi Koibtio Railway, strolling at Rose Garden 
  • PM: Mt. Moiwa Ropeway - for city lights. 
  • Tea Ceremony (wear a kimono while tasting matcha tea) (Ren Ceremony | Klook)
  • Enjoy Sapporo Ramen at Susukino or Ganso (Ramen Street)




Day 2: Going back to the History

  • Hokkaido Museum: “The Interrelationships of Nature and Humans” 
  • Historical Village of Hokkaido in Nopporo Shinrin Kōen Prefectural Natural Park - with 60 typical buildings, dating from the Meiji and Taisho Periods. 
  • Dinner: crab or seafood hot pot in Seafood Buffet or Katsukani no Hanasaki


Day 3: Be one with Nature

  • Tomita  Farm in Nakafurano, Sorachi District (ower park).  -Ride the carriage is drawn by a lavender-colored tractor, Attend a Workshop from Distillery or Perfume Making and -Visit the Gallery Fleur exhibition and indoor dried ower arrangements Have a picnic, enjoy Lavender and Cantaloupe avored food like ice cream custard, cake, and coffee 
  • PM Overnight stay in Shirogane Hot Springs inn
  • If traveling on start of May until June, check Higashimokoto Park as the hills will be look like a carpet of pink and purple hues.


Day 4: Peaceful mind in the Morning, Shopping spree in the afternoon

  • AM: Continuously dip at the hot spring and visit Blue Pond in Biei, Hokkaido; Shirahige Falls;  
  • PM: Back to the City Shopping at JR Sapporo station complex or Tanukikoji Shopping Street.  Share your experience by bringing back some omiyage to your friends and family


Day 5: City and Beer

  • AM: Roam around the Central which includes Hokkaido University Sapporo Campus (to be incuded during autumn season), Former Hokkaido Government Ofce Building (Red Brick Ofce), Clock Tower,  
  • Lunch at Sapporo TV Tower and stroll along Odori Park 
  • PM: Sapporo Beer Museum Guided Tour Buffet Dinner at Sapporo Beer Garden 



Highlights of the tour plan
Visit Beer Museum/Factory and Chocolate Factory
Fill-up your tummy with alcohol, ramen, seafood overload
Revisiting history of Meiji and Taisho Periods
Be one with nature as you visit oral park and be wonder by the blue-pond
Experience warm brought to you by hot spring and chills of lavender ice cream

Length of the tour: 5 days (excluding the arrival and departure days)
Recommended for anyone who enjoys city, nature, experience, and walking

Approximate budget: 80,000~100,000 (excluding fliight fares)

Off Beaten Path

Experience "Drift Ice Sightseeing Cruise from Abashiri" via Klook.  The meeting place is roughly 7 hours by express bus from Sapporo Station. You can leave nearly 11pm, arriving at 6am in "Abashiri Drift Ice Sightseeing & Icebreaker Ship, 4 Chome-5-1 Minami 3 Johigashi, Abashiri, Hokkaido, Japan"

*Remember, you still need to decide for yourself based upon your attraction and fascination over a place or activity.  As well as to consider the pace you want to have while traveling.  Planning too many targets on a day will either exhaust you rather than give you peace and joy on the culture and tradition.

Create your own road, rather than taking someone else's path.  
It can only be a road when one passes it.
