Fjord Cruise to Mostraumen
If you are looking for some rest in between activities, consider joining a cruise as an option. You can check Klook, Get Your Guide or other sites providing this kind of activity.
I decided to join "From Bergen: The Original Fjord Cruise to Mostraumen" provided by: Rødne Fjord Cruise that will sail through the Osterfjord in Get Your Guide.
If you can pack or bring small snacks do so. If you want a window seat, queue early. But since I'm on a solo trip, and I tend to roam around the boat, there is no need for me to rush for a window seat.
The is also a small cafe with limited pastries and drinks on-board.
You can also opt to go to the viewing deck, but it's too windy.
Then, when the boat slows down, they also open the front viewing deck. They gave a few moments for the guests to take photos, then let them in again as the ride speed-up.
Weather in Bergen changes quickly, so push for whatever you plan. Layering is the key. You can experience rain and sunshine along the cruise.
Admire views of landmarks like the colorful Bryggen wharf, mountainsides, waterfalls, and the Mostraumen strait.
Highlight of the cruise for me is seeing the falls and seeing this small town from the fjords.
What is a fjord?
A fjord is a long, narrow inlet of the sea with steep, rocky cliffs on either side, carved by glaciers and flooded by the ocean. Formed over thousands of years during ice ages, these U-shaped valleys are often exceptionally deep. [Reference]
Bergen is situated between the longest fjord Sognefjord north of Bergen and the beautiful Hardangerfjord in the south and is therefore called the heart of the fjords. [Reference]
Slow paced activity for 3 hours, that's already a rest for me. Thankful for seeing and experiencing the fjords.
