Takamatsu, Japan: Shikoku Village

Shikoku Village
Japan, 761-0112 Kagawa, Takamatsu, Yashima Nakamachi, 91
Travel Date: 14 March 2024

How to get there

I took a train heading to Kotoden-Yashima station.

Appreciate the flora along the way heading to Shikoku Village.

Where to eat

I had a quick bite at Shikoku Village Cafe
Era: 1905 (Meiji 38)
Old Location: Kitano-cho, Ikuta-ku, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture

Wow, cool to know this, as I was also able to visit Kitano-cho in 2014.

Inside Shikoku Village

The reason I wanted to visit this place is because the replica of Kazurabashi Bridge currently exists in Iya Valley.  Since going there is a bit of a challenge, that's why I'm just taking this one in Shikoku Village.

And yes, I was able to cross the bridge twice safely with lots of photos in between.  This bridge is rebuilt once every four years.  Well, some of the strings were already broken when I passed by.

Shikoku Village is an open-air museum made up of 33 buildings relocated and restored from the four prefectures of Shikoku that includes houses, work sheds, gathering places, playhouses, rice warehouses, and soy sauce breweries built from the Edo to Taisho periods. Look up and appreciate the thatched roof of some buildings, just like the ones in Shirakawa-go

Saw this tiny moss plant in the middle of the forest park.

Somegataki Waterfall

If Arashiyama bamboo forest is too crowded for you, in this village you get to enjoy the Bamboo road alone.

I'm also glad to visit this place, that apart from the buildings, there is a lot of flora in the area.

It may not have been sakura, but I appreciate the bed of daffodils (Japanese Narcissus (Nihon Suisen)).

Saw these holly leaves in green and red, which are famous during Christmas season.

Always watch your step, in between rocks.

Miyazaki family sugar cane press.

Once you reach the Lighthouse area, you'll have the overlooking view of Takamatsu city.

Recommended stay: 1-2 hrs
