2019 May: Germany: Well spent hours in Hamburg

Itinerary

Miniatur Wunderland
Kehrwieder 2-4/Block D, 20457 Hamburg, Germany

When I thought that the one in Seoul is the grandest, there's more in Europe.  Presenting the model railway and miniature airport in Hamburg.  Claiming to be the largest model railway in the world, it is an hour well spent in Miniatur Wunderland.

USA Area

The Red Rocks - The Grand Canyon, Monument Valley and the Bryce Canyon, all wonders of nature, make up this collage of spectacular scenery.

Sweden area

Kiruna Ore Mine - is considered to be the largest ore mine in the world.

Other Scandinavia area

Germany area

Trans-rapid Maglev

Central Station, Hamburg - is the largest station in the Miniatur Wunderland, including 18 platforms.  Where the construction took five months.

Knuffingen Airport - The entire terminal area is an authentic model of the Hamburg Airport on a scale of 1:100.

Switzerland

Rhine Valley - Between alpine pastures and rugged rocks, where tunnels and bridges alternate, the train wind their way through the narrow valley on meter-gauge railway tracks.

Italy

Fiordo di Furore - The small fisherman's village in the famous fjord with a bridge has been remodeled true to detail. (Amalfi Coast)

Overall, it was a great experience I had in the museum.  The intricate design is so amazing.  The trains and cars are mostly moving, the change between day and night scenes is totally new, the lights coming from the buildings during the night mode is so cool.  The daily life in each featured city is well represented.  Even the design inside the trains are too detailed, you'll be able to see passengers inside the cars, buses, trains and ships.

After an hour, we continue driving around the city. Stopped by Central Station and St. Pauli Piers (Landungsbrücken).

Walk along Binnenalster (inner and smaller artificial lake), appreciate the intricate facade of the Townhall.  Pass by the posh shops in Jungfernstieg, Gansemarkt and Stephansplatz.

End the day with a beer and tasty meal at Hofbrau Munchen.

Big Thanks!

Sending my special thanks to Gerald for doing everything for us to enjoy our short stay in Hamburg.  (I mean everything from driving (when I thought of flying with Air Gerald at 150 kph), touring around, walking along with us, storytelling and sharing life thoughts; to even keeping me dry while sailing in Middelfart).

In the end, seeing Hamburg with so much brick buildings than of Berlin that makes it more interesting.

Travel Date: May 5 10pm to May 7 7am, 2019
Hours spent on non-business related activities - 4 hours.
