1. Savour delicious local cuisine
Hidagyu Maruaki
Location: 6 Chome-8 Tenmanmachi, Takayama, Gifu 506-0025
Food: Hida beef sukiyaki, udon
Personal preference: 9 out of 10
We arrived at 11am, and wrote our name on the list. While waiting, we browsed the menu and prepared our order. There were English instructions so do not fret. In less than 20 minutes, we were guided to our seats. The service was quick.
Together with the Hida beef are tons of vegetables and mushrooms.
Tohouen

Funasaka Sake Brewery
Location: 105 Kamisannomachi, Takayama, Gifu 506-0846
Personal preference: 9 out of 10
For 500 yen, we got 6 coins. Used 2 for the sake cup machine. And we have tried 4 different sake flavours.
There are QR codes on each sake machine, so you would know the description before you drop your coin.
#08 Jingoro josen (15% alc) - light type taste, rich aroma, dry.
#09 Jingoro soshu (15% alc) - This is a "Honjozo" sake made using Gifu's "Hidahomare" rice (large-grained rice with low protein content), with a polishing ratio of 70%.
Reminder: Don't drink and guide. Skip this if you are not really into drinking.

Check their local products, get coffee drip, buy some souvenirs.
05. Go on the other side.
There are many bridges in Takayama. And they are of different colors. Make sure to cross one of those, or try to walk during the night lights.

07. Walk around the 1,200 year old ginkgo
