Højbro Plads Christmas market
Adorned with a Christmas tree, and sparkling lights. There is reindeer and Santa’s sleigh photo-opportunity. Thankful to the opportunity to visit my first ever European Christmas Market in Europe - Højbro Plads Christmas market.
(But those Europe-inspired markets in Japan made it special because of the concert, music and I'm accompanies by my sister)
There are stores with novelty items, winter accessories, chocolates and cheese.
I visited for the first two nights and thought that they are still preparing the place, thus, I would say this is the most quiet market I've been. No music at all in the area nor in the stores.
First food to try roasted chestnuts - just the same as we eat from home.
On my list, I have tried - Æbleskiver - Small round pancakes, a cherished Danish Christmas tradition, served with jam and powdered sugar.
They have hearty sausages. I ordered for the curry wurst, because we had it back then (2019) in Berlin.
Also on my must-list - Gløgg - Warm up with a cup of Danish Christmas classic spiced wine, made with red wine, spices, and almonds.
Next time, will also try mulled wine.
Travel Date: November 2025
