Where do you get your travel information?

Where do you get your travel information?  What are your sources of information when it comes to planning a trip or making your next itinerary.

For the veterans, boomers, or Gen-Xers, they say or prefer printed copies.  But for Xennials, Millennials or modernized adults obviously internet is their main source of information.



Books

Visit international travel expositions to collect brochures and flyers to know more about the city you are eyeing to visit next.


Television

Philippine local travel show use to have Trip na Trip, and still actively have Byahe ni Drew.  For international figure, it's good to watch Anthony Bourdain, Samantha Brown travel shows.   

Jumping through travel channels like Fyi, National Geographic, CNN Travel, TLC, NHK (Japanology), Channel News Asia, Arirang, etc.  



As we travel more, the lesser we use guide books, just because they only cover major destinations and major sights.  But internet can offer more places to see and up-to-date information.

Pictures and Photography
Instagram instagram.com A simple and creative way where individual can edit and share photos to the public. Use the appropriate hashtag and you'll be able to search the interesting places that you may want to visit. Be careful on those uploaded by known local travel organizations and it might be too edited away from the reality. So you need to browse more on those shared by the public. Good to use this to hunt where the locals go, use the hashtag or the location on searching to see the latest food and fun things to do in the place. Follow photographers and ask them where they got certain snaps from when you see somewhere that you wanted to visit.
