Dates Stayed: July 4-7, 2016

Price: Expensive for private stay, but affordable if you’ll choose the dorm type.

Location: It is strategically located between Line 2 (Banwoldang Exit 2 (with nearby elevator) and Myeongdeok Exit 3) and Line 3 (Monorail) Myeongdeok.  Nearby 2 bus stops.

Coming from Daegu’s “Myeongdong” (Jungangno station), you can take Bus 401 to reach Sono Hotel.

Check-in: It strictly follows the 3pm check-in, but you can leave your luggage in the lobby.

Room: Standard Private - Due to poor experience on dorm type in Busan, I have changed by booking from Dorm to Private Room.  Of course, the area is enough for me.

The controls truly amazes me, they have explained the remote upon check-in.  It’s one remote for lights, tv and air conditioner. I like the combination of center incandescent light and pin lights to set the mood.

It had a big bed with separate couch on the side.  A chair desk and cabinet (with 2 hangers).  There is a separate mirror and chair for make-up area.

The windows are so thick that it has almost 3-4 layer protection.

I like that there are slippers provided (although not the sanitized type, like in Japan hotels). Toiletries were provided as well.  Of course, I like the rain shower.

Culinary Experience: I have not tried but there is one Chicken & Beer shop and Samgyeopsal restaurants.  Across, there is 7/11 and a coffee shop.

Things to ponder:
  • I normally don’t use refrigerator and I wanted to turn it off, but can’t find the switch. Overnight, the 2 water bottles were frozen.
  • The toiletry set did not include toothpaste or razor.
I don’t have issues if this just a normal duration stay for my visit like 3-4 days. Please consider below as just rants from someone who has a different need (I considered this as a stop to do errands for my 2 week stay in the southern provinces), however there are things I would prefer to have:
  • More space in the bathroom to hang my clothes
  • Dryer for the washing machine
  • Coffee or tea bags in the kitchen even if not breakfast hours.
  • English please: on how to use the very modern water container. For the buttons on the washing machine.  Although, the receptionist was of great help.
Verdict: No issues with the service on this hotel.  But will further find an accommodation that is nearby Jungangno to be closer to the shopping district and more restaurant options.
