Very well taken care of as their guest - their service is excellent. Thankfully, I was given a seat facing the canal for my very first dinner meal in Hokkaido. Great view for cars passing by and people watching on the canal.
Ordering is easy from the tablet. English is available.
Another converted area, previously an old wooden warehouse, is now a dinning hall. Waiting for my meal is never boring as I enjoy the outside lights of the canal and the nice wooden ceiling inside.
The food is amazing - the meat patty is soft and tasty, fits well with the radish. Serving it with salad makes it yummy and healthy.
Great ambiance, good mood and nice music.
Happy to have visited this place.
Kitaichi Hall - 北一硝子 北一ホール

I was able to watch the lamp-lighting preparations, where only first 25 expectators are allowed to get inside.
Flash photography is not allowed. Stay still in the recommended area, and behave well while watching.
Afterwards, guests will be requested to go outside, and queue in for the order counter.
The food is fine, the cake is fluffy and not sweet, which I preferred. But the experience makes it remarkable.
Robataya Turukichi Seafood restaurant
Location: 1 Chome-1 Ironai, Otaru
Food: grilled king crab

As a solo traveller, it will be difficult for me to opt to a seafood market, and to have a whole crab cooked for me maybe too much.
Visiting this grilled seafood restaurant was a good choice for me. It's a small restaurant, you can stay outdoors or indoors. I chose indoor since it's too cold outside.
The grilled king crab is served in a short waiting time. She gave me scissors and luckily was able to open the legs with all the power.
I did not bother to dip it in any sauce, but the king crab alone is so tasty.
