2015 Nov: Japan: Nagoya: Hotel Trusty Sakae

Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan
Date Stayed: Nov 13-17, 2015

Price: Discounted - Thanks to agoda.com, I got another Insider Deal of almost 60% discount, plus reduction on price by using Rewards Points.  Comparing to booking.com, I got a cheaper deal in agoda.com for less than 25%.

It is still better to prepare hotel booking by comparing prices on the official site and other 3rd party booking sites as an early bird, to have more choices.

Check-in: It is a late check-in, so there are only few people in the lobby. I was accommodated quickly, the staff can speak clear English.  There is no deposit needed.  Choice of breakfast is already being asked (night before) since it is not buffet type.

Room: (Single Deluxe, 15sqm) Room size in Japan is normally small, it's my fourth visit in Japan - so I already expected that it has good facilities and service - with coffee/tea maker, slippers and toiletries.  Nice to know that they even offer LAN cable, that’s so helpful on my online meeting.

Service: Good thing they offer to keep my luggage upon my early check-out, before leaving the city late in the afternoon.

Location: Accessible from 2 train lines (1) Sakae Station on Subway Higashiyama Line and (2) Sakaemachi on Subway Meijo Line.  Few blocks away are Family Mart, 7/11, Don Quijote, Mitsukoshi mall and NHK.

Arriving late where most of the exits are being closed is a bit hard.  Going back to the airport, it is Exit 8 that gives elevator service from the ground to basement, but not yet the concourse. I even use an elevator exclusive for wheelchair, then escalator and stairs just to reach the concourse.

How to get there?

Culinary Experience: I choose traditional Nagoya breakfast but they still gave me continental.  Choices of drinks has a lot to offer.

Downside:  Not sure why 5 degree Celsius does not work for me, it's not freezing cold outside but its hot inside.  The air-conditioner gives warm air as well, which I prefer to give colder air.

Reminders:
  • The room door is self-locking. A charge may occur for the loss of room key (10,000 yen).
  • Check-out time is 11:00. Extra payment for overtime is 10% of room charge per an hour.
  • There is no safety box in the room.  Valuables can be left in the reception desk.
  • Close the door when you use the bathroom.  The fire alarm operates because of steam.

Verdict: Given the location of the hotel, where I can enjoy shopping at Don Quijote even late night ‘til early in the morning, I’ll recommend this place.
