A-mei maybe good to visit if they can accommodate you due to it's popularity. But going to the tea house across A-mei gives you a good spot to have a better view of the Spirited Away inspired scenery.
I really enjoyed the mixed fruit tea as I also enjoyed the cold weather, people watching in the old street and the viewing deck for mountains of northeast Taiwan and horizon of East China Sea.
Shifen

Embrace the fun of walking and eating at the same time! Buy in small amount and share it to your travel mates so you can enjoy more variety of street food.
Peanut ice cream roll deserves the long wait on the queue, it is very tasty! The cream is too thick and rich and it's not the same as what we normally buy on convenience stores. The crushed peanut also gives its unique taste with the ice cream!

Food in convenience stores will fill-up your tummy if you have no other choice of any restaurant in the area. Of course it's convenient and within your budget, so it's also good to taste some when your traveling.
Bake Shop in Houli Station

Too flaky. They need to add more choices of snacks in this station.

Some of the stalls are made by students or just break-through pop-up stores, and it's just good to help on their earnings. Love the youthful vibe in this area.

Luckily, we made it inside on our first try! We arrived before 11am, and there are already in queue. But when they open the service, it's just quick for us to find our seat. We just waited less than 15 minutes and they were able to provide our orders. Of course, it's tasty!
