South Korea: Seoul: Ikseon-dong Hanok Street

If you had enough of Insa-dong and Samcheon-dong, drop-by Ikseon-dong for a change. I first learned about the place from Battle Trip, then more succeeding dramas and shows have also filmed here.

It's just a short walk from Anguk Station Exit 4.  You may opt to combine this after your visit in Changdeokgung Palace.

Things to do in Ikseon-dong:

1. Pose at the most instagrammable spot

Who can miss having a photo of the facade of Madang Cafe?

Madang Café / Flower Yard Café 마당플라워카페
33-12 Supyo-ro 28-gil, Ikseon-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea
서울특별시 종로구 익선동 수표로28길 33-12

If you were there early (7:30am-12am), try if you can get a seat in the cafe.

2. Decide where to have your main dish

We ordered pasta at Zio Cucina.  And having radish on the side makes it more tasty.  It was really a fusion of tastes.

Zio Cucina Italian Fusion Restaurant
33-11 Supyo-ro 28-gil, Ikseon-dong, Jongno-gu

It is a traditional hanok place turned into a restaurant with a lot of fancy decors that will catch your attention.

3. Shop from the alley stores

There are a lot of shops around the area.  But I did not take a photo of them out of courtesy.  But gals, you'll truly enjoy the place.

4. Rest your feet in a serene place

Among the many dessert and coffee shops in the area, we have chosen to stay longer in Tteuran Tea House.  According to their website, they are "Jongno-gu Ikseon-dong's first Hanok Tea House since 2009"

We ordered for healthy fermented teas and mugwort rice cakes and sweet grain syrup, black bean rice cakes

Green Plum (Apricot) Blossom Tea (7000krw = 300php, 2019)
This tea helps reduce coughs, hangovers, and nausea.  It relieves tension, clears your head, and is good for your skin. (After several cups of flower tea, you can add green tea leaves to create your own blend of tea.)

Omija (Five-Flavor) Tea (6000krw = 250php, 2019)
This tea uses organic-grown omija berried from Yeong-wol in Gangwon Province (The name of this tea comes from the unique mixture of five flavors: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and citrus.)  It protects your bronchial tubes and helps with breathing and overcoming fatigue.

Apart from dining, they also offer tea sets and ceramics to their customers.

It's a cool place to unwind and just chill since it is very cozy.  A lot of flowers and plants in the courtyard and even inside the shop.

5. Enjoy the wall art and displays
