Komono, Mie, Japan: Mt. Gozaisho

Mount Gozaisho in Komono, Mie, offer views of Yokkaichi and Ise Bay.

I was looking for a quick hike option on this trip and found Mt. Gozaisho. From Tsu station, I took a local train.

Get-off at Yunoyama Onsen Station, then switch to bus.  Go to along the winding road heading to Gozaisho Ropeway.

Roud-trip rate for adult was ~2600 yen (~1000 php).  Ride time is about 15 minutes, and they allowed me to be in the cabin alone.

You can see some onsen hotel from above. One of the towers is at 504m above see level.

Good mountain views.

Upon arrival at the top, I headed to the restaurant, got some brunch with very beautiful view at the corner table.

There are a lot of activities available at the top.  Several lookout point or observation deck, different mountain trails and sightseeing lifts.

After brunch, I started heading to one of the mountain trails.

If you have the energy and the opportunity, go out and enjoy forest bathing.

Always be careful in mountain trips and hiking activities.

Have your photo at the 1212m above sea level photo-spot.

Before leaving the mountain, I got some red bean matcha and hot tea.

It's a wonderful opportunity to visit the mountain during summer.  Also be advised that this is also an option to see snow caps during winter season.

Japan: Hiking Daikokudake from Norikura Tatamidaira

I didn't have knowledge about what winter looks like until I became more interested in watching several videos about it.  Like the danger and difficulty someone might encounter when going to the top of the mountain.  Like how is the situation of the huts during the heavy snow.  Like how the mountain hotels have limited service, how they are prepared to stay safe before the winter, and how the buildings are recovered in the middle of deep snow.

Nagano, Japan: Kamikochi

Kamikochi is famous for the clean, crystal clear Azusa river with Japanese northern alps (Hida mountains) in the background.  One of the gateways to reach multiple summits, peaks and offers great adventures in several mountains.

2016 July: South Korea: Daegu: Dodong-Seowon Confucian Academy, Biseul Mountain

Have some rest from the bustling transfers across the trains and buses and join an English theme tour by Daegu City Tours.  Tours available from the flyers are not confirmed unless they receive enough participants request for that day.  In my case, the Yangnyeongsi tourism office was very helpful in this one, they were able to connect me to the tour office and get my contact details for them to confirm if te tour will pursue the next day.  In the afternoon, I was able to received a call and they confirmed Biseul over Pangolsan, which I believe is also due to weather forecast.

So to continue, there were 2 pick-up points from Daegu, they will confirm which one is better for you to go.  You gotta pay 5000krw to the guide upon boarding.  We have changed out itinerary a bit as agreed to all the passengers, so we skipped Daegu National Science Museum.  Instead bought our packed lunch at the Express Stop, drop by Dodong-Seowon Confucian Academy, then took the electric car to head to the top of Biseul Mountain or Biseulsan (which is normally excluded in a regular themed tours).  The driver said that taking the electric car will cost too much time and we will not make it, thus we have decided to skip the science museum.

2015 June: Australia: Blue Mountains: Jenolan Caves

It's a decision between to do or not to do it because of the price and the schedule.  A week before our flight we have decided to do it since there is nothing much to do in the city.

An addition to my cave adventure (after Sumaguing in Sagada, Callao in Cagayan, Sung Sot Cave (Cave of Surprises) in Halong Bay, Manjanggul Cave (lava tunnel) in Jeju) glad we made it!

Realizations for our decisions:
  • The Trolley Tours works with Jenolan Office to reserve the tickets and guided tour for the cave.  We got a 2.00 aud discount booked from Metropole Hotel and they were able to reserved us in both Trolley return ride and Cave tour.
  • The Chifley Cave is a good choice and gives you enough time (to do the cave, quick lunch, self-guided tour in Nettle Cave, visit at blue lake, quick visit in souvenir shop and a 30 minute rest before the bus leaves at 3:30pm). Personal choice of good cave is the Diamond Cave but can be visited if you stay there overnight in Jenolan Hotel or if you have private car to be there by 9:00am.
  • If you don't mind being the reason for the delay of the bus departure in the afternoon, you may take both Chifley and Lucas. There is also Oriental Cave (check the schedule).  Be mindful of the negative reviews about of Trolley Tours (read more in Trip Advisor).

We left Trolley Shoppe/bus from Carlton Stop at 10:30am.  It is a long almost 1-1.5 hours bus ride heading to the caves.

Going there stay on the left side of the bus to experience the cliff adventure.

Chifley Cave guided tour started at exactly 12:30nn.
