Keng Tu Yuan Tea House
A relaxing old style tea house covered with trees and koi pond nestled in the middle of the city.
Was not able to see if there was a reservation needed prior to visiting this restaurant, glad that they were able to accommodate my visit.
There are small cosy private booths overlooking the koi pond in the middle of the tea house garden. Lucky to be assigned with a pond view.
They handed out a qr note, mentioning they allow you to hang around your area for more hours. You can stay longer as you like without any pressure. I came in around 11am, but I'm allowed until 7pm, that's already too long for a stay. It's amazing and surprising! The staff are friendly and helpful.
Traditional Chinese restaurant with floor-sitting culture. I enjoyed the antique, relaxing ambiance of the place. The interior design, wall paper, ceiling lights are old and appealing.
They have an English menu. And has Top 10 recommended dishes. I ordered the #1 on the list, dried meat mixed with tea noodles.
In addition, I also got gummy rice cake with red beans. Commonly known as 'bean noodle cake', it is a traditional snack in Peiping. According to legend, it is the Empress Dowager Cixi's dim sum. The glutinous rice covers the red bean filling. The nutshell powder with special nutrition is very delicious and aromatic.
Just the same as I enjoyed the dishes, every bite is not just for the tummy but watching the koi swimming around the pond and seeing the maple leaves dancing on the wind are food for my eyes and feels closer to nature.
Based on some Google reviews the taste is not good. On my end, I did enjoy my stay. The food is tasty and comes with a decent price. The minimum consumable fee is 150 ntd. It was a unique, relaxing and nice dining experience.
