Japan: Toyoko Inn Toyama

Travel Date: 10-14 October 2025

Location: Just across the South Exit of JR Toyama Station. Making it accessible by train if coming from Takayama or by highway bus when going back to Nagoya.

There's a Family Mart behind the hotel. There are a lot of food choices in the next building including Toyama black ramen, sushi, Yoshinoya, etc.

Check-in: Staff at the counter are very quick. But they will let you use the machine for both check-in and out. They are also accommodating in leaving luggage at the lobby. They will give you stubs to get back your luggage.

In leaving luggage, they will give you bag tags to get back your luggage. Luggage are left in the lobby, but they have nets securing them.

Security: In taking elevators, you need to tap from the outside, before you can click on the going-up button.

Room: Huge enough to open 2 luggage. There's a working desk with available plugs, making it easy for laptop users. And there's a dining table by the window. We had dinners watching the trains come and leave Toyama station.

As most of the airlines banned power banks, Toyoko Inn offers this kind of dispenser for power bank that you rent. 

Pros: There were four coin laundry and four dryers to use.  They have dispenser for the detergent (30 yen), washer (200 yen) and dryer (100 yen for  10 mins).

This hotel also offers room wear. 

Food: They have free breakfast that's available from 6:30 - 9am.

They do promote eco-stay. They have programs like avoiding food waste when they ask guests if they'll be joining the breakfast hall the next morning.

Cons: When the coffee machine was out of service, there were no coffee sachets provided. There's also no hot coffee selection for in the vending machine.

But of course there are other options like cold juice and water available at the breakfast hall.

Check-out:  They were able to accommodate our luggage on the day of our checkout. We spent our last day in Toyama, then by mid-afternoon, we got our luggage back before we moved to Nagoya. 

Recommendation: This hotel is a good choice based on its location, easily accessible from bus or trains or trams.  Free breakfast and many choices of restaurants.
