Japan: Toyama City Public Library

Finally, we were able to visit Toyama Kirari, a combination of offices, community area, retail/cafe/restaurant, gallery and glass museum.

Built by Kengo Kuma and Associates.  Expresses another woody environment library, like the other library I visited in Yusuhara Community, Kochi.

Floating designed shelves. A lot of lighting and seating areas in the library.

I got to play around the mirrors and reflections.

I've got to see books to inspire me for the next trip, just two days after this Japan trip.

The book cover reminds me of the excitement of going to onsen. Don't get me wrong, I have not read the book, but the introduction mentions a combination of the culture scene and the reality of what we don't know what's happening - from accidents in unhealthy overstaying in hot water, archeological digs that bathing in hot springs were there 10,000 years ago, and reflections on the love of soaking.

Here are some of the ryokan and onsen baths I tried.

If you are looking for English books, just ask the guides and you'll definitely be able to grab a book that you can spend an hour or two.

For an additional fee, you can visit the glass art museum.  Luckily during our visit, mobile photography is allowed.

Before we left this building, we saw this amazing wood art maze, which makes you wonder how brilliant the puzzle was designed.
