Yinka Shonibare CBE - Woman Shooting Cherry Blossoms |
The woman with a globe for her head shoots a riffle, but out of its muzzle emerge cherry blossoms in full bloom. Shonibare explained that he created this work paying attention to women's empowerment. The cherry blossoms are power for creation and imagination rather than for destruction.
We visited this museum to have a peek at Kyne.
As mentioned in this article, "KYNE started his career in his hometown of Fukuoka from around 2006, and attracted attention for his unique artistic style that is strongly influenced by 80’s popular culture."
A giant yellow pumpkin sculpture by Yayoi Kusama – is permanently displayed outside the red brick structure and you can view it for free.
